Things have really been hopping for the past month. The end of school just seemed to be no where in sight! The last few days were quite interesting and bittersweet and they were followed by an immediate vacation.
We traveled up to Coeur d'Alene to visit family and take in the beauty of the lake up there. The two day drive was long and I worried that Pete and Rachel would have trouble with Max but he did OK. We went in our car with my Goddaughter and Rachel and Pete went in their car which worked out great. This time I had the wherewithall to rent out a house in lieu of a hotel and it was the best decision I ever made! The house belongs to two airline pilots that live in Guam and rent the house out when they are not there. It was decorated in the "French Country" motif and was quite charming. We were in the Saunders Beach area and could see the lake from the house. We have started a new tradition to be sure! We had planned on staying in CDA for three days and then we were going to go down to Twin Falls to visit mom's grave. We cancelled Twin and stayed on more day. We had a wonderful time with my nephews and niece and then set out for Yellowstone. We stayed in Gardinier Mt just outside of the North gate and spent a few days seeing areas of the park we hadn't yet explored. We finally saw a bear this trip but the bighorn sheep remain elusive. We spent a day at Rushmore and Crazyhorse monuments and then gladly headed home. I love the West and wanted to stay but a big part of me considers Minnesota home now after having lived here for 15 years now! While I loved our vacation, I will finally be ready for a different destination! We are hoping for Disney on Spring Break and perhaps Pompeii next summer. Tracy kept my house for me while I was gone and now she will be leaving to see her family in North Dakota. We have crammed as much as we can into this past week before she leaves. Today we went to the Science Museum to see the Titanic Exhibit. It was incredible albeit creepy! We bought a membership and plan on returning. The exhibit will be around all summer so we have time to return.Tomorrow looks like a trip to Whitewater with Max and Rachel as well as Tracy. Should be a fun time. I think vacation is slowly catching up to me though as my fatigue has been off the charts the last few days. It's about time to check my TSH anyway I guess. *sigh* Posted by Michelle at June 29, 2009 10:19 PM
