Snow Pics

My snowmen are buried!the ice came firstthe ice came firstthank goodness for snowblowers!snowblowers rule!

These are a few pics of our weekend blizzard. There aren't too many because I really wasn't outside that much. The really bad news is that another monster storm is going to hit tonight. We aready have a few feet of snow and we may get another foot on top of that. I seriously don't know where else they could pile the snow in our cul-de-sac. They decided to move all of the scraped up snow into a pile of front of our house which pleases Rhi to no end. I am thinking that by Friday we should have a mountain out front!

I am looking forward to "thunder snow" which is supposed to happen tonight. There is nothing cooler than lightening and thunder with snow! There is no doubt that school will be cancelled so that is also a plus. Jon still has to get to the Clinic though and we are due for more ice/freezing drizzle so power loss is a possbility too. Those two things worry me. I guess we'll see what happens.

From the weather desk:

"We have a major winter storm on our doorstep today. Snow will spread across the area through the day with plenty of snow in the forecast through tomorrow and Friday as well."

Blizzard 2007

From the weather desk:

"Even though the freezing rain has stopped falling, power outages will still be possible as high winds pick up tonight into Sunday. Snow will continue through the night heavy at times. A blizzard warning remains in affect for southeast Minnesota and most of north Iowa. Many accidents have also been reported. Traveling tonight will be extremely dangerous with whiteout conditions at times."

Our winter storm warning quickly changed over to a blizzard warning as high winds kick in and cause white out conditions. Oh yes. *This* is why I live in Minnesota. I love storms. They are totally my thing! Just so long as the power doesn't go out! I can handle the dark but the I'm not really in the mood to freeze in my own home! Everything looks really beautiful outside. We had rain/sleet with lightening and thunder last night and lots of rain/freezing rain this morning. Poor Jon has been out with the snowblower for hours trying to clear things. The difficulty is the ice layer underneath the snow.

I am really hoping they give in and cancel Rhi's choir concert tomorrow. They are pretty stubborn about this kind of thing though. If the roads are remotely drivable it's on with the show! *Hearty Minnesotoans" and all that. *Cough* idots *cough*. It is all right to cancel things and just stay home for a day. Jeez. Can't we just take one lousy day out of our crazy lives to just stay home and chill?

We'll see how many piano students show up tomorrow too. I finished painting the study last Monday and I am hoping to get the hallway tomorrow if enough piano kids cancel.

Wish You Were Here

overlooking Tucson

I am very much missing many things right now.

"So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here."
Pink Floyd

No lunch today for me and I have to cancel my kids meeting again. They perform next week and that really leaves us with only two rehearsals. I kind of wish I would have never volunteered to do it but then I thought I would have more support with things at home than what I have. C'est la vie je sais mais ce n'a pas bien.

Kodaly Conference

It won't be long and I will be off to Chicago to a National Kodaly Conference with my co-workers and friends. I am not only really looking forward to the conference itself but to a good time with friends. I can't wait. I need this now!

The weather here is up into the 40's and it feels like 60 after the deep freeze we've been in. We haven't had much in the way of snow this season but when we do get it it's on the weekends. We have not taken any snow days this year which is just unheard of. A nice storm looks to be coming our way but it will hit this weekend and probably be gone and cleared by Monday. We just can't catch a break!
