A Door Never Opened

The door to my blog certainly hasn't been opened in awhile! Time gets away from me. So far away from me. We ended up buying the house for Rachel and Max. We stayed home for Spring Break and helped paint and get things going with it. It still has to be painted. There were apparently so many volunteers to paint and in the end just Pete's sister and mom came out for an afternoon and then his sister again the next day. She is a very sweet girl. She didn't have to spend her time home on Spring Break from college that way. Rachel is still at Pete's until the painting is finished. Truth be told it would just be easier to wait until her school is out so she doesn't have to worry about school and moving. I was doing some yard work over there this past Sunday and it felt a little strange to have the neighbors come introduce themselves and then to explain that; A. I already live in the neighborhood (we are just a block away) and B. that the house if for my daughter. *shrug* C'est la vie!

Taxes were paid today on time and in full so that's done. Now we just have to chip away at the loan for the downpayment.

I set a new quote on my blog the other day because I was feeling a bit melancholy about some of the roads never taken. I guess it is a natural part of middle age. Most of the regrets come from doors that simply could not be opened. Regret is not something I ever dwell in but sometimes it needs to be addressed. I have done what I have had to do and I cannot regret it in the end. I do regret pain I may have caused others. I hope the people who really know me understand that I care. I care more than I can say.

And that, brings me to truth. It never amazes me how much one person's truth can become so incredibly twisted and reinvented to conform to a new skin. The worst part is that *the lie* has been so incredibly romanticized. Whether this is done out of ignorance or insecurity is a mystery but either way it is sad and either way a liar is still a liar.

"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened." ~Winston Churchill

While some doors were never opened, there are others that shall never be closed.
